SOUTHWEST DISTRICT MEETING AGENDA

February 6th and 7th, 2009 - Torrance, CA

We have an amazing line up of activities and presenters in addition to the Third Annual Student Competition in store for you:

First, Abe Eshkenazi, CEO of APICS (presentation), will be our keynote speaker. Straight from the cold of Chicago to the warmth of Sunny California. (wasn't too hard to convince him to come). Your opportunity to address all of your questions of APICS.

Next, as a good number of Southwest District chapters are in the process of launching the new Lean Workshop in 2009, we have invited three very special guest speakers to bring an executive perspective to Lean concepts and techniques that will be useful in the marketing of the workshop series, enhance instructor knowledge and in general increase the awareness of how corporate level executives provide leadership in an enterprise’s “Lean journey”.

  • An overview of Value Stream Mapping, by Jerry Wright, VP Lean Transformation. DJO has won the prestigious Shingo award.(bio)

  • Organizing a Kaizan event, Jerry Wright, VP Lean Transformation, DJO - Presentation

  • Lean in the Military, CDR Jim Goudreau, SC, USN, Fleet Readiness Command. Commander Goudreau heads up the Fleet Readiness Command (FRC)/Fleet Readiness Center SW out of North Island. The FRC has achieved the Shingo Silver Medallion.

SATURDAY NIGHT EVENT:

Spend a wonderful evening reminiscing with your friends and colleagues on the content not only of the District Meeting itself, but the newsworthy times we live in. Enjoy cocktails and hors d'oeuvres in a fine setting as well as the entertainment provided by Magician Marty Gorman, a local resident who has been active in the magic community for many years. We will also feature some fun surprises and a few interesting contests as well, so this event is sure to be much different from anything that has been done before at previous District Meetings. We look forward to your participation and to hearing the “buzz” that you generate after you leave! Sign up today! Cost $35.
